After years of forced stop, public demonstrations by the LGBT+ community are back<\/strong>, and a march through the streets of Piacenza<\/strong> was organized to celebrate the International Day Against Homo-Bi-Transphobia<\/strong><\/em>. Also Il Nido del Colibr\u00ec<\/em><\/a>, that is based in the city, took part with a few of its people (unfortunately, many were working or had prior commitments).<\/p>\n

For some, who have only been in Italy for a few months, this was their first time participating to this kind of events, and to some it has been a great challenge: in their experience LGBT visibility meant violence and torture, that they suffered in the past, and when the procession set off <\/strong>– when they understood better what it was all about – they were almost terrified of exposing themselves this openly<\/strong>. Thus, we had to spend quite a bit of time calming them down and staying close to them, until they started to walk with us.<\/p>\n

They all made it to the end, and were finally much more relaxed and aware that the situation for LGBT+ people in Italy is different from what they had left behind<\/strong>, and that too was a small achievement.<\/p>\n
