I think it\u2019s the right thing to do; <strong>such behaviours cannot be promoted<\/strong>. We must to defend the values of the family, of the Orthodox Church, the traditions that we pass from generation to generation\u201d.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div id=\"attachment_32796\" style=\"width: 910px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-32796\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-32796\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ilgrandecolibri.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/img.jpg\" alt=\"Durante una riunione del Consiglio degli Anziani\" width=\"900\" height=\"503\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ilgrandecolibri.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/img.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.ilgrandecolibri.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/img-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ilgrandecolibri.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/img-768x429.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-32796\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u00a9 foto di belta.by<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Although Belarus doesn\u2019t have the same restrictions as Russia, <strong>the situation for LGBTQIA+ people in the country is not the best<\/strong>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ilga-europe.org\/sites\/default\/files\/2022\/belarus.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">According to Rainbow Europe, <em>ILGA<\/em>\u2019s annual review on the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex and asexual people<\/a>, the country is at the bottom of the list in Europe, with a score of 12% &#8211; higher than Russia\u2019s 8% or the Turkey\u2019s 4%, but still very far from Western standards. The situation is related to the de facto dictatorship that the country has been subjected to for several years.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/religion\/2017\/05\/10\/social-views-and-morality\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A 2017 study by <em>Pew Research<\/em> <\/a>showed that <strong>84% of Belarus citizens did not consider homosexuality \u201csomething unacceptable\u201d<\/strong>, while less than 16% of the population (a figure still higher than that in Russia and Ukraine) supported the introduction of same-sex marriage.
