THE ASSOCIATION

Il Grande Colibrì is a voluntary association which was born from an integration and information project created in 2011. Our main goal is to try to offer a wide vision on the LGBTQIA world that is not limited to the italian context and knows how to read and understand the differences and instances of sexual minorities in the world.

In 2011 Pier Cesare Notaro created the intercultural blog IlGrandeColibri.com. The project has expanded considerably over the years, becoming a point of reference for immigrant, refugee and second generation people. For this reason, in 2016 the voluntary association “Il Grande Colibrì” was established. Today, the association includes people who are very different in gender identity, sexual orientation, origin and religion, but united by respect for this diversity and the pleasure of sharing it.

WHAT WE DO

  • We offer support to asylum seekers because of the persecution in their countries, because of their gender identity or sexual orientation. We try to offer assistance and orientation for the asylum application and life in Italy. We also draw up dossiers, which are updated documents on the persecutions and regulations of the countries of origin. We manage the contact page of the information desks for refugee throughout Italy.
More for migrants...
  • We keep a watch on what is happening in the world regarding LGBTQIA issues and in Italy regarding the various minorities, offering you numerous articles, insights, interviews and comic stories.

  • Thanks to our local groups we are present in different italian regions, where we create support networks, initiatives and meeting spaces. We organize and / or participate in various meetings and conferences in Italy and abroad, usually in collaboration with other associations, to spread knowledge and awareness on minority issues within the LGBTQIA community.

THE WEBSITES

IlGrandeColibri.com deals with LGBTQIA rights in the world, with particular attention to non-Western countries, and we try to create a space in which ethnic, religious and cultural minorities express themselves within the LGBTQIA community.

IoSonoMinoranza.it tells, above all through direct testimonies, the experiences and thoughts of people belonging to minorities subject to stigma and prejudice to overcome their stereotyped and superficial representation.
