It is believed that the verses of the Qur’an mentioned above are the first ones revealed to the Prophet Muhammad. The first message was addressed to him but also and above all, was the first order given to the whole community that would have followed him: “Read!

We, Muslim people active within Il Grande Colibrì, believe in an Islam that encourages people to learn, study, read and understand. We believe that the Islamic religion should be very inclusive and peaceful. We believe in respect for diversity and self-determination of people; in knowledge and curiosity between people and cultures as revolutionary tools for the improvement of oneself and society; in the universal and inviolable rights of the human being; in the principles of democracy and secularism; in the fight against all forms of prejudice, intolerance, violence and fascism.

We work to break the invisibility and hostile silence that surround the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersexual and asexual (LGBTQIA) people of Islamic faith, to dismantle the homophobic and Islamophobic prejudices in which we are immersed.

We are available and willing to collaborate with anyone who recognises these values, without preclusions based on religious or philosophical beliefs, ethnic and national origins, gender identity and sexual orientation, or anything else.
